About Hobnailed Boot

I’m dating myself a bit here, but my first memory of Georgia football is the famous ‘Hobnailed Boot’ play – David Greene to Verron Haynes at Tennessee in 2001.

Between Haynes’ celebration, the jubilation of the tiny red & black section in the crowd among all that orange, and the sense that Georgia football had something special brewing, I was hooked.

Fast forward a decade to my undergrad years in Athens, which I spent working for the Sports Information Department at UGA, traveling throughout SEC-land for road games and avoiding schoolwork as best I could. Post-graduation, work took me to North Carolina, where I covered ACC basketball & football for a local newspaper.

Life intervened – met my now-wife and left the newspaper business – but there’s always been one constant: the Dawgs. Up here in ACC basketball country, Dawg fans are few and far between… which leads me to Hobnailed Boot.

You won’t find updates here on Jimmy McProspect’s Top 10 (it’ll change tomorrow), or who made what preseason watch list (no trophies for that). Come for the commentary, the off-the-wall stuff, the postgame venting. Let’s party like Neyland Stadium, 2001.
